A system combining artificial intelligence with professional expertise to monitor and analyze media content and narratives—and an international charter to build a network of institutions committed to digital media integrity standards

The International Center for Countering Media Disinformation (ICCMD) has announced the development of an advanced technology system for monitoring and analyzing digital content, alongside the launch of the International Charter for Media Integrity and Countering Disinformation. These initiatives are among the key strategic projects approved by the Center’s Board of Directors during its first meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Issa Al Shajji, Chairman of the Board, and attended by Khaled Bakdash, President of the International Organization for Press and Media – Netherlands; Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Al Oraimi, Vice Chairman for International Affairs; Dr. Younes Mujahid, Vice Chairman for North African Affairs; Tariq Al Momani, Vice Chairman for Levant Affairs; Fadila Al Muaini, Vice Chairman for Gulf Cooperation Council Affairs; Rabia Hussein Makki Al Juma, Vice Chairman for Programs and Development; and Fawaz Ahmed Suleiman, Vice Chairman for Corporate Communications and Media, alongside Sultan Al Hosani, Secretary-General of the Center.

The system is designed to build advanced technological and professional capabilities for monitoring and analyzing digital media content. Its functions include analyzing keywords, topics, and media narratives; studying content dissemination patterns, trends, and indicators; and supporting data analysis processes by combining artificial intelligence technologies with professional expertise.

In parallel with this technological initiative, the Center is launching the International Charter for Media Integrity and Countering Disinformation. The Charter aims to establish an international network that brings together media institutions and professional, academic, and research bodies around shared principles and standards of media integrity, verification, and professional responsibility.

Issa Al Shajji, Chairman of the Board, said:

“We aspire to build an influential international center that brings together media expertise, technology, and institutional action, while delivering initiatives capable of keeping pace with the rapid transformations taking place across the media landscape. The launch of the International Charter represents an important step toward building cross-border professional cooperation and bringing institutions and media professionals together around shared principles of media integrity and responsibility.”

Al Shajji added that countering media disinformation requires the integration of expertise and partnerships among media, professional, and academic institutions, alongside investment in modern technologies and tools capable of professionally monitoring and analyzing patterns of content and disinformation.

Sultan Al Hosani, Secretary-General of the Center, presented an overview of the Center’s operational and technological vision. During the presentation, he outlined an integrated digital system currently under development to support the monitoring, analysis, and verification of media and digital content.

The system’s capabilities include real-time monitoring; analysis of keywords, topics, and media narratives; examination of content dissemination patterns, trends, and indicators; support for verification and data-analysis processes; and the use of artificial intelligence to enhance the efficiency of monitoring and analysis operations.

Following the Board of Directors’ approval of the Center’s strategic directions and principal projects during its first meeting, the Center is entering a new phase of institutional development. Drawing on the expertise of its members and their regional and international relationships, it will work to establish strategic partnerships and develop high-impact initiatives that strengthen its presence and influence in countering media disinformation regionally and internationally.
